My first rodeo

Back at the beginning of the month, we went to the Greeley Independence Stampede Rodeo. Mama says it's a good one because it's small and friendly. She ran into Jan Carlson, a friend from college, there!

I started the day at the petting zoo.

Probably because I'd had a fall on my earlier ride on a carousel, Mama thought I could try one that was smaller. I sat on the dog for a while, and then it started to move...

and I spent the entire ride clinging to Daddy. This may take a little time.

Mama went with me on the train ride. That went OK.

There was a fishing game at the carnival where the prize was guaranteed for everyone who played. So Mama let me play. However, I had no idea how to catch a fish with the magnet on the end of the rod, so Daddy had to help me. After I got one, I wanted to keep the fish instead of the prize.

I won a BIG frog! (Don't be fooled, we offered him a choice of the frog, a monkey or one of several dogs and he chose the frog. This was not Daddy's fault!)

I saw steer wrestling

I saw team roping too

Watching and eating popcorn. I ate a lot of popcorn.

Saddle bronc riding can be exciting

There was a very patriotic drill team

I liked the big bull and cow characters.

Go horse, Go!

Mama said we should include this picture for her friend Jennifer. Hi Jennifer!

The bulls stayed in areas where Mama couldn't get pictures of the action. So here is one who has already lost his rider. Mama was upset because she felt like some of the clowns (whatever they call them these days) didn't protect one of the riders as well as they could, and he ended up getting hurt.
