August 6-9 - William's Fork

Daddy's family usually goes camping at a place called William's Fork. They have been camping at one of two campgrounds for twenty years or so. Unfortunately, pine beetles have decimated large parts of the forest and that has taken away a lot of the shade in the campground. While our spot was sunny during the day, it was shady by the river.

Big brother Connor took Mama on a hike the first day we were there. They saw lots of dead and burned trees along the way. Mama thought it was still pretty, although she had never been there before so can't miss the way it was. She took lots of pictures, and here are just a few of them.

Mama found a dead fish in the water. Connor waded in and "caught it with his bare hands." So Mama had him pose with it like a fisherman. He did catch several fish the following day with a more traditional set up.

Mama and I sat near this bit of river for a while, just listening to the water. When I got chilly, she took me back inside.

I got hungry fairly often, so they joked that I was "just a quart low." Here I am refilling my belly.

I watched out the window with Antema.

This might be the view I was seeing.
