Visiting Great Grandma

We continued my birthday with a visit to Great Grandma. She was not happy that Mama took her picture. But I spent several hours keeping her amused with my antics, walking all over the nice open floor, playing with some toys and improvised toys.

Great Uncle Don came home and put on some Peter, Paul and Mary music, and we danced. Mama only got video of me, though. Great Grandma thought that was probably a good idea.

Actin' naturally

Please pick me up and hold me while you watch these long overdue videos!

Swingin'

Discoverin' the big boy cup

Trippin' up the stair

Steppin' out

Playin'

They were trying for video of me dancin' but I didn't feel like cooperating. I do have a habit of "dancing" to the songs some of my toys make and sometimes to songs on the radio.

Mother's Day make-up

Mama showed off her flowers from Oma

The boston cream cake for dessert!

Aunt Jaki was laughing because I kept moving so we weren't looking the same direction

I started out sampling the dog food and moved on to mud in the back yard

When you play in the mud, a bath is sure to follow!

So many ducks, so little time

Happy Birthday Suit Day!

Happy Birthday to ME!

No "Butts" about it, I want everyone to have a good day today.

Don't be afraid to to face the world.

Run like the wind, or into the wind as appropriate(aka: and they call him "The Streak")

(Mama comment--this was supposed to be a "butt shot" but our camera is slow from pushing the button to taking the picture and it's rare that Russell isn't in motion. But it does make for a funny picture--just look at him go!)

Ice cubes

Yesterday Mama let me have some ice cubes that were left over in her water glass. Today, she gave me an ice cube (a new one) in a glass. I like putting it in my mouth, but then it gets too cold. Mama's timing with catching the ice cube with the cup is improving, but sometimes it still hit the floor.

She also let me practice drinking from a cup of my own. With towels present on the kitchen floor! She thinks that more practice will be needed.

I have a rattle that is shaped like the handset from one of the old phones that Mama said had a dial on it. (I've never seen one) We discovered tonight that it bounces down the stairs pretty well, and we had a good time playing toss it up, toss it down the stairs. But Mama took it away when I tried to put it on the fan.

Doesn't she understand that I am fascinated with that fan and can't help myself? I really NEED to touch it. She keeps telling me "NO" in that loud voice that I don't like. She got really loud a couple of times tonight, and even took the spoon out of my hand! Can you believe the things I put up with?

How do you eat a whale?

How do you eat a whale?

With a spoon, of course!

Mama hid a toy from me by sliding it next to the couch (OK, I did keep standing on it so that it would keep making noise, but I'm not sure that was a good reason) and I crawled in after it.

This picture is from a bit further out showing how far I crawled between the couch and freezer.

Uncle Kevin likes to take close ups.

I was hanging out at Nicole's house today, and actually did some interaction with Patience (who is four days older than me.) The videos are a little long, but are kind of cute. Unfortunately, they do not want to load this evening. So Mama will try later.

The long road

(Sorry there aren't pictures--the parents forgot the camera)

Today the parents and I went road tripping. Our first stop was Colorado State University. I did OK in the big stroller for a while as long as Mama kept moving. I got to ride in a couple of elevators and visited a couple of the buildings on campus.

We met with Dr. Jones, and I flirted with her quite a bit. I was able to walk up and down the hallway, and was particularly fascinated with the stops that prevent the open classroom doors from banging into the walls. I also got to make the water fountain work (with Mama's help) and then play in the water (with Daddy's help and cooperation in lifting me up high enough to get my hands wet.)

We then got back on the road and went to the University of Northern Colorado. I was an unhappy kid when we arrived, so Mama spent some time letting me wander around on the grass while Daddy went to his appointment. I discovered dandelions. (Oops--Mama doesn't know how to spell dandelions without help!) I discovered that they are fun to pull the seed pods off and scatter them in the wind. I tested several of them just to be sure that it was fun. It was.

We then took a short trip over to a park in Greeley. I was asleep in Mama's arms for a while, and then did some more walking on the grass. We tried out some of the playground equipment, including some steps, a big plastic tube to crawl through, a steering wheel and a couple of slides. Mama wouldn't let me go down the big twisty one by myself, but she and I went down together. I took turns swinging with both parents because there were no infant swings.

There was a pond at the park, and I got to see a white pelican. At least the parents think it was a pelican. Daddy thought a couple of the other birds might have been egrets. They didn't come too close to us.

At one point Mama was smelling the lilacs and tried to get me to smell the lilacs. I just tried to eat the flowers. Soon after that we loaded back up and I napped all the way back to Denver.

Mixed grill

Patience and I check out the picnic blanket

My future's so bright I have to wear shades, but I don't think these are my style.

Perhaps a hat for me

Uncle Kevin hangs out with me for a bit

Looking for my next adventure?

Proof that Uncle Kevin did indeed teach me how to clap on command.

A little long, but here I am running with a toy lizard in my mouth.

Pinball Baby

Mama thinks Uncle Kevin started it, but we now have a game she calls Pinball. I love it! I stand on the landing of the stairs, and the adult tosses the big blue ball up towards me. Sometimes it bounces off me, which makes me laugh. Sometimes it bounces right back down the stairs, which also amuses me. Sometimes it gets stuck and I have to go retrieve it. I don't mind.

Last night, Mama watched the ball bounce between me and the wall--just like what happens in a pinball machine--and the story was born.

I got rythm

These are some belated video from my visit to Oma on April 17th. It's funny to see how much better I am at moving today!

So many toys, so little time

I love banging on things.

Here is a quick video of me walking. I do this so much better now that the adults need to get a new video!
