August 15 - Hanging out at Grammy's house

Mama and I went to Grammy's house today. It was too cold to go outside, so I got to "squiggle" on the floor. Mama kept taking pictures of me.

She finally got a smile!

August 6-9 - William's Fork

Daddy's family usually goes camping at a place called William's Fork. They have been camping at one of two campgrounds for twenty years or so. Unfortunately, pine beetles have decimated large parts of the forest and that has taken away a lot of the shade in the campground. While our spot was sunny during the day, it was shady by the river.

Big brother Connor took Mama on a hike the first day we were there. They saw lots of dead and burned trees along the way. Mama thought it was still pretty, although she had never been there before so can't miss the way it was. She took lots of pictures, and here are just a few of them.

Mama found a dead fish in the water. Connor waded in and "caught it with his bare hands." So Mama had him pose with it like a fisherman. He did catch several fish the following day with a more traditional set up.

Mama and I sat near this bit of river for a while, just listening to the water. When I got chilly, she took me back inside.

I got hungry fairly often, so they joked that I was "just a quart low." Here I am refilling my belly.

I watched out the window with Antema.

This might be the view I was seeing.

August 5 - OWWW!

Today I went to the doctor's office, a different one. I was measured at 23.5 inches and 13 pounds 9 ounces. I'm getting big!

I got my first set of vaccinations today and they hurt! I cried a lot. Nothing Mama did would console me. Finally Aunt June suggested that she get some infant ibuprofen, and that helped me to calm down.

At least I don't have to get more shots for eight weeks!

Two months old on July 27th

Earlier this week I turned two months old. I'm growing like crazy and Daddy measured me at 24" long and 13 pounds. I'll have the official measurement later this week when I go see Nurse Lona again. Since I'm better than Mama about water on my head, she's hoping that I will be better about shots. I'm due for my first set.

I have slept through the night a couple of times now, but in between I'm still awake every two hours looking for food. Mama's feeling a little tired. She's also rubbing her back a lot like it is sore from carrying me since I'm getting so big.

The day after my "birthday" I went to see Grandma Betty (Grammy) and Mama took pictures. She finally got them uploaded for everyone to see.

I'm slowly growing into my classic Pooh outfit, and I think it matches my eyes nicely. They are still dark blue.

Here's a blurry but cute picture of me smiling.

I am losing my hair. I've been told that I will most likely go bald because of my genetic heritage, but I didn't think it should start this soon. People keep teasing my parents about the possibilities of my hair growing in red. At that point, Mama would call me Rusty. But she thinks my hair will probably stay brown.

Sometimes a boy needs to stay in motion to make it hard for Mama to take pictures!

Grammy and I were having quite a conversation at some points

This is my pensive face

I've practiced with lots of different expressions today.

Here is Mama's favorite picture of Grammy and me.
